Attractions of Corralitos, CA

Like many of the towns nearby, Corralitos has its fair share of must-see attractions. First, there’s the nearby Forest of Nisene Marks about 17 minutes away, offering a sweeping view of redwoods from sea level to the steep coastal mountains. You can picnic on one of the spots near Aptos Creek, or you can jog, bike, or hike. There are over 30 miles of trails in this park, which can go up to 2,600 feet above sea level.

Mount Madonna County Park, which features 4,606 acres of redwoods, has facilities for hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, or camping along its 14-mile trail system. It also has an amphitheater and an archery range. It is one of the few parks in the Santa Cruz area that allows dogs in their camping grounds.

For the best wines, you can’t go wrong with the local selection at Corralitos market. This well-stocked country market is also your go-to spot for a fine line up of treats and local goodies, including pies, ice cream (from Marianne’s of the famous 105 flavors, no less) and even hand-made chocolates! Looking for something more hearty and filling? Try the market’s amazingly good in-house sausages, of which there are more than 30 varieties. Love your steaks? Treat yourself to a prime roast or, if you will, a T-bone, rib-eye, sirloin, filet mignon or any other cut you can possibly desire! There’s lamb chops, pork chops and chicken and turkey, too!

Vineyards of Corralitos, CA

You needn’t leave Corralitos to have your fill of wine. Enjoy the flavors imparted by terroir, the unique taste of the local soil and climate.

The Alfaro Family Vineyards and Winery, whose land spans 56 acres under vine, offers estate-grown and bottled pinot noir, chardonnay, merlot, and more. The Windy Oaks Estate is another topnotch choice for fine wines that have been produced since 1999.

Schools and the local economy

Corralitos offers residents a decidedly relaxed atmosphere and beautiful country feel – there’s no doubt that it’s a fantastic area in which to raise a family. The area boasts a thriving business community and there are many excellent schools.

Nearby Aptos High School is a highly rated public school that encourages students to discover themselves and their passions. The school boasts first-rate teachers and programs to help equip students for a successful life in college and beyond. Its athletic program often competes on the state level.

There are also over 20 excellent private and charter elementary and high schools in and around the area, including Pioneer Academy in Corralitos, Salesian Elementary & Junior High School in Watsonville, as well as Stratford School on Morgan Hill. Covent Classical School is another very prestigious private school in the area.
